Sassafras is led by its president and creative director, Deborah Mott, who has over 20 years of experience in graphic design, marketing and advertising.
Prior to founding Sassafras, Deborah served as the creative director of a Los Angeles based advertising agency, working on their national accounts. These high-profile projects included the National Cable Telecommunications Association (NCTA) children's Internet safety campaign, for which she created an award-winning website (Webby and Communicator Awards) and national PSA campaign (Telly Award and Gold Communicator Award). Other award-winning projects include specialty packaging (Davey Award), and a Flash homepage banner incorporating animation and video (Davey Award).
Prior to her work at the advertising agency, Deborah was senior designer at ING Advisors Network, where she established a strong reputation for creative innovation and leading teams.
Deborah was the lead creative on the design team and was instrumental in building the department from the ground up. The team was recognized as an ING Center of Excellence, and was awarded the ING Circle of Honor Award.
Deborah led the re-branding of four national ING companies, creating comprehensive identity systems that defined the visual and written aspects of the brand. She managed issues regarding branding and was selected to serve on the national committee for brand integration.
Deborah began her career with MCA Broadcasting in New York and went on do work for Macy’s, LA Gear, and Disney films. She received her design training at Parsons School of Design and the Art Students League of New York, and is a graduate of Rutgers University. Deborah is a member of the American Institute of Graphic Artists, American Women in Radio & Television, and the Graphic Artists Guild.
